“Tell ‘Em Why You Madd!”

I’ll tell you why I’m mad. I’m mad because Floyd Mayweather Jr. is holding up the sport of boxing. Instead of doing what every boxing fan from America, the Philippines, Mars, Jupiter and Pluto wants, which is fight Manny Pacquiao, Floyd says he’s “relaxing”.

According to Manny’s promoter, Bob Arum, everything was worked out contractually on both sides, including drug testing — drug tests close in proximity to the fight, ended negotiations for the first fight — and all Mayweather had to do was sign by 12:00 a.m. pacific, last Friday.

But he never replied, which made some question whether he actually agreed to all or any of the terms. So, once again, no fight. Mayweather, who fought in May is spending time with family and vacationing, and his uncle and trainer, Roger Mayweather, is dealing with legal issues. So it is possible Mayweather won’t fight until that situation is handled. Manny will move on to fight either Miguel Cotto again, or Antonio Margarito outside of the country. Neither fight will draw anything close to what Pacquiao v. Mayweather would pull in, but it’s all that’s left.

Boxing desperately needs this fight to go down. Not because the sport is irrelevant, but because people have been given a taste of what this fight could be. I personally think Floyd is afraid to fight Pacquiao, because he is the one guy who can be Mayweather. It’s understandable that he doesn’t want to lose his undefeated record, but he might be hurt himself more if he retires without fighting Pacquiao.

Until he puts all that money where his big mouth is, he’s just a punk to me.

I completely understand your frustration. I too am frustrated and confused by this one. Roger probably has something to do with his decision. I and half of the world knows that “Money” will handle “Pac Man”, I just dont know why the hell he doesnt just bite the bullet take his pops in the ring and et this over with!!!!!

  3. Well I read today that the Mayweather camp said they haven’t agreed to anything and the Arum fabricated the entire negotiation process.

It’s becoming a confusing situation, but I think by next year neither side will have any other options.
