JUST MIGHT BE CRAZY ENOUGH TO WORK!

Bare with me for a minute. Disregard all the reports from ESPN and all of these “insiders” who swear on the Bible that they know football and use your brain for one second.

Matt Leinart won a championship and a Heisman at USC. Pete Carrol was the coach at USC. Matt Leinart was just released from the Arizona Cardinals. Pete Carrol now coaches one of the rivals of that team — The Seattle Seahawks. The current quarterback of the Seahawks is 34 and has a bad back and knee. Did I mention Matt Leinart used to play for Pete Carrol?

If you haven’t caught on basically the idea is Matt Leinart is perfect for Seattle. Leinart strongly believes that he should be a starter right now and not too many teams believe that, except maybe his former college coach. It is very possible that Leinart is just another pretty boy posing as an NFL QB and can’t play the position at this level. I just can’t see that. People don’t just win Heisman trophies without having some kind of talent. And Leinart was never given a fair shot to get the job. The Cardinals brought in a different coach and quarter back and

sat Leinart on the bench.

With Pete Carrol Leinart has a great chance to succeed. In fact it may be the only place he can succeed because most teams are looking at him for back-up purposes. I’m no “insider”, but I know for a fact this would be a good move.

THE BLAME GAME..

USC built a powerhouse when star running back Reggie Bush was there. As a member of the Trojans, Bush won a Heisman trophy and a national championship, while also propelling himself into super-stardom and putting his school back on top of college football.

Now due to sanctions given to USC by the NCAA, the Trojans have been ordered to vacate all wins and are giving back their replica Bush’s Heisman trophy. They are also removing all traces of Bush from the school as way of showing they are moving past this “disgraceful” era which makes Bush look like a scapegoat.

If USC wanted to stop this era from happening they would have. Instead of doing that they decided to turn the other cheek to line their pockets.

In my opinion college sports is probably the most hypocritical business in the world. Colleges, business and television/radio networks make millions of dollars every year off of the sweat and blood of college players, but they have rules in place that don’t allow these athletes to benefit from this lucrative business.

Maybe I’m overreacting, but I feel like college sports is just a new and different form of slavery. They give you a place to stay and pretend to give you an education (I say pretend because I’ve seen cases where education is taken very lightly) as long as you produce in the fields on the field, but you don’t get paid what they get paid.

Did Reggie Bush do the wrong thing by taking money? Yes, but that doesn’t make him a cheater. That money didn’t help him run for all those yards or work out in the gym.

Why should college athletes take the be broke when major corporations get to be as greedy as they want with no penalty? In a world where athletes can get injured and be left high and dry it makes sense to get all you can when you can.

It’s even worse for guys at mid-major schools. Most of those guys aren’t getting the exposure that big schools are, but their programs make tons of money anyway.

I can guarantee you one thing. USC won’t give back any of the money it received as a result of Reggie Bush being the face of the football program.

Neither will all of the other people who made money from this “disgraceful” team.

But maybe I’m just rambling. I’m open to your thoughts on the issue..
